The flights were vectored to a Kilrathi strike group approaching the Majestic from below the plane of the system. Ramscoops were closed and speed safeties were turned off to allow for rapid flight to the Kilrathi strike group. Upon arrival, the Kamekh-class corvette Fral'nar'Lath was escorted by three Dralthi and two Grikaths. The Grikaths tightened their formation with the corvette to less than 500 meters and paired their movements with the corvette.
Tango and Mango flights first engaged the Dralthi who burned forward and focused fire upon Tango Flight. Outnumbered the Dralthi received severe damage with only one Sabre (2nd Lt. Rothsbard's) receiving any significant damage. With only one Dralthi remaining and the Kamekh reaching flak range, Tango flight switched targets to begin torpedo runs on the corvette.
Owing to the extreme flak, Tango flight remained mobile during torpedo runs reducing the effectiveness of each torpedo strike, but the Kamekh did receive heavy damage from two torpedoes that were destroyed within the Corvette's shields. Unfortunately, 2nd Lt. Rothsbard's Sabre had suffered severe control damage and was unable to avoid one of the FF missiles fired by the Grikaths. The Sabre began to come apart and both 2nd Lt. Rothsbard and his gunner Sqt. Mooreshead ejected before their Sabre was destroyed. Fortunately, Talon's pursuit and continued attacks on the single remaining Dralthi caused it to fly right into a storm of flak from the Fral'nar'Lath.
While Mango Flight focused on the Grikaths, Tango flight went for a second strike. During the second strike, Tango's Sabres suffered marginal damage except for a flak round that smashed into 1st Lt. Sviato's cockpit. He suffered significant injuries from shrapnel wounds across his body. With this second torpedo run, Captain Bradshaw's torpedo succeeded in striking and destroying the Fral'nar'Lath before any more torpedoes were launched by Tango Flight.
The remaining two Grikaths were quickly dispatched afterward with no additional damage to Tango or Mango Flights. Fortunately, 1st Lt. Sviato was able use a medkit to stall the bleeding until he could return and land on the Majestic.
