While Jackie, Cyric and Philip were discussing with Sue, Jamie was in his bottom bunk, sulking like Achiles in his tent.

Jamie would deny it's sulking of course, but he does have his nose buried in a book of twenty third century poetry that he brought with him.

He hears the skitter of foot steps, and sees a depression in the mattress above…. followed by a bag of chips being slowly lowered on the side of the bunk held in place with what looks to be yarn.

Jamie peeks up there curiously to see who's lowering chips, while folding up the book and placing it on his chest.

He sees Singh's hand over the bed frame.

Jamie sighs, reaches up to accept it, and peels it open. "Thanks," he mumbles, pushing a few into his mouth and crunching on them. "…Whassup with you?"

Julianna says, "Seemed there was a balance problem in the universe…" I'm trying to even it out. She says, lying in her bunk staring at the ceiling.

Jamie shrugs his shoulders down there. "You're trippin'," he jokes, after she says there's a balance problem. Then he adds, "Hard for anything to be balanced when there's a war on."

Julianna says, "You know… I didn't see much of what happened. I was on the other side fighting a transport. I imagine you had it rough, SB and Ona's sabres looked like they needed to be brought back in stretchers." She says and pauses. "That's an interesting point… you're born in what… 2640? I know you're younger than me… but we've never known… not war"

"Always struck me as funny that we say " She deepens her voice "_in case you didn't notice, there's a war going on_" Julianna returns to her regular timber" because of that. Does it really still have a meaning?"

"Check it out! what does this say?" Julianna pulls out a 20 credit note "Bellum pro victoria"

"We even bank on war. We buy food on war. Your chips were fried in war…"
"… We are war." Julianna sighs.

The PA system of the ship turns on. "Attention, this is Williams, we will be powering down in 20 minutes to recalibrate the sensors. You may experience gravity fluctuations."

Jamie hands the bag of chips back up a moment later, after he's just eaten a few. He's never appeared to have much of an appetite. "And here we are stuck on a destroyer. I sure wish we had the Majestic's firepower 'round here," He huffs, swinging his legs around to slide them off the cot as he sits up in bed.

"Least we're seein' who's worth savin' and who isn't. Fry all the cats, far as I'm concerned. And all the Retros." Jamie glances up, smirking when he hears the announcement. "Good thing us pilots don't get nauseous in zero G."

Julianna wedges her legs on the bedframe, tucks in her shirt and drops down upside down, hanging with her calves on the upper bunk. She turns to see Jamie, realizing she missed her dramatic pose and is on the other side of the bed. "Yeah, about that… I may have something to help with that… but I kinda didn't listen to you or Kanani…"

"DON'T BE MAD AT ME!" Julianna tries to hand the bag of chips as a peace offering…

"You know when we were ordered to wipe our black boxes for that section of the patrol?" Julianna continues.

The blond runs fingers through his hair and then rubs the scruff that's starting to grow on her face. He pushes up to his feet and makes his way quietly across the cramped bunk room, past a few other sleeping pilots, and picks up a cup from the small sink that's there so they can drink when they want some water. He fills it up, drains it down, and looks back over as he heads back to the other pilot so he can talk quietly.

"Yeah, I remember," Jamie replies. "An' I'm not mad at you. You've saved my ass more'n once."

"You know the message of the retro that was offering to break the alliance with the kilrathi for our tech sucking missile?" Julianna continues, finally dismounting from her uselessly dramatic upsidedown pose.

Jamie pauses, furrows his brow, and shakes his head. "Think I must've been focused on somethin' else when that came through."

Julianna says, "Well, it had the hymn in the beginning. So… nobody asked me for a debrief, Kanani did it for our wing…. and I kinda… just… maybe… sorta… kept… my… flight… disk?" She says.

Jamie rolls his eyes at the mention of a hymn. He sets his water down on the side of his cot and folds his arms behind his head. "Well, I ain't gonna tell on you. Look, I'm a second Lieutenant. All I do is fly a Rapier."

Julianna jumps slightly with both hands closed at her heart level. "You know, I know we hung out a lot with Azran on the majestic. How would he react if say… I would offer to betray him behind his back? not pretty, right?"

Jamie pauses, then shrugs his shoulders. "No, probably not pretty. But that cat already turned on his own people, so… I don't really know how he feels about it." He furrows his brow. "Sounds weird to say it though… that I trust him."

"Yeah, the big guy grew on me… I'll be frank, I was acting extra nice around him because I figured that way he would kill everyone else first… but I kind of understand him better now. I don't agree with much of what he says, but he plays a fair game." Julianna giggle at the thought of missing a giant fluffy murder machine.

"You could imagine then that the kilrathi in the ralatha would react… probably violently, if they were to receive this recording." She raises an eyebrow. "And not to us for a change"

Jamie nods a few times, expression neutral now. "I feel like now that I've killed… you know, a fair number of cats. And people. That I kind of understand. I know you like to get a surrender, but, uh. I like puttin' them out of our misery."

Jamie pauses then, and replies, "Just don't do anything that'll get you court martialed, okay?"

"I'll ask you the same… but what happened to you out there? I just came back to see you and Ona in each others face." Julianna cocks her head to the side, mirroring Azrans body language.

Jamie picks up his water. "What do you mean? I was doin' my job. Didn't want to let that retro to get word out. He was sendin' transmissions. So, I popped him."

Julianna looks concerned. "Do you think the message got through?"

Silence says, "Don't really know. I know we're here now, and at the moment, we ain't under attack."

"That is true." Julianna grabs some chips.

They feel slightly lighter, as if you just finished a good workout.

"Heh, there goes the gravity." Julianna smirks. As you are in a room with only pilots, nobody seems to care about the 30% drop in gravity.

Jamie just shifts his weight slightly in order to account for it. Yeah, he's very used to variable gravity conditions. "It's kinda nice. I could go for a zero-G nap," he exhales.

"Yeah, I'm going to go talk to Kanani and the CAG slash deck hand lady about this. I think we have a winner here." Julianna adds.

"As for your docked salary… you OK there? our combat bonuses should cover the difference, but you know… lunches are on me if you need. Also, we could bring it up to Taylor back home" Julianna continues.

Jamie blows out an irritated breath. "Don't worry 'bout it. Not worth worryin' about till we're even on the same ship as Taylor, is it? Besides. Ain't like they're gonna let one of the few combat pilots on this destroyer go too hungry.

Julianna says, "Yeah, especially with the content of that transport we picked up…"

"… Did you hear, it has the livestock and booze of the kilrathi." Julianna adds.

Jamie arches his brows. "Hadn't heard, no. Can humans even eat or drink that stuff?"

"Xark and Ortogs… A blood beverage and something that looks like a satanic six legged goat. I imagine if you put enough ketchup on it it'll taste like ketchup." Julianna says.

Jamie makes a few. He bounces a few times in the lighter gravity. "Ketchup? Even worse than satanic goats."

"The cats will soon be hungry, retros are vegans eating soy and algae… I don't see this being an alliance of the ages. do you?" Julianna asks wryly.

Jamie pauses for a second. "Oh. Hell, I didn't even think of that." He slumps back down on his cot, and reaches in to pluck a small squeeze ball out of the pack he brought with him from the Majestic. He bounces it on the floor, and it reaches the ceiling before falling back down again. "But I mean. Cats have got to be able to get supplies in here. They're guardin' the jump point, after all."

"Yeah, but who's guarding the other side?" Julianna retorts

Jamie chuckles. "I mean. Gotta be more cats, right…? If it was Confed, they'd have come through by now…"

Julianna says, "My money is on the madge."

Jamie nods, shrugs. "I mean, they could be burnin' hard for Perry. Mighta left us behind."

"Possibly, but that would leave a battle group here… We're guarding those transports from rygannon, the cargo must be valuable. And we're valuable… you're valuable." Julianna looks at him then turns her eyes away.

"You… you've taken out… several fighters, have more metal on your chest than many majors. You're an asset to the team." Julianna says.

Jamie doesn't look convinced. "They'd have to know we were still alive back here, wouldn't they? Well. Guess all we can do is keep fightin' to make it through there."

Singh purses her lips and forces a smile. "Yeah, they're coming for us… no doubt."

The young pilot Jamie forces a slight smile. "Hopefully, so are the other Majestic pilots."

"Hopefully we can scatter the blockade and get back to our friends." Julianna says, staring off into the distance.

Carefully, so he doesn't bounce too much, Jamie stretches back out on h is cot. "Yeah. Hope so too," he murmurs. "Gotten kinda spoiled by a fleet carrier's landing deck. This thing's cramped!"

"Take care Jamie, I'm gonna go get clearance from Kanani and the CAG deckhand lady." Julianna gets ready to go.

The PA system starts again "We have finished recallibrating our sensors. Gravity will resume functionning normally."

Silence says, "Awright, Julianna. I'm gonna… dunno, try to catch some winks before a scramble alarm, or whatever the next crisis is."
