F-38 E Talon

talon-r.png
Guns: 1 Mass Driver, 2 Lasers
Missiles: 2 Dumb Fire
The Talon was introduced to provide Frontier and Backwater militia and security squadrons with a cheap yet capable fighter for various defensive and policing operations. The E variant is older than the common F one. If has less weapons but slightly better agility. The design uses a pair of laser cannons coupled with a center-line mass driver. The retros seem to have gravitated towards this model. The analog controls in the cockpit may have been a selling point, however, the main reason would probably be cost and ease of maintenance. This high demand for the fighter has actually resulted in multiple factories and companies producing the craft throughout Confederation territory. A massive facility on New Detroit actually produces scores of these fighters per year.

COM-1 Crucifix

Guns: 3 Mass Drivers
Missiles: 2 Friend or Foe
The crucifix is a surprise to say the least. Based on the old minotaur space frame, it boast three forward facing mass drivers, a pair of friend or foe missiles and a top speed and agility comparable to that of the rapier. It also manages this while having thicker armor than a raptor. After engaging it in combat, its flaws are apparent. When a wing is lost, which happens often with this design, it loses a mass driver. Also, the poor shielding and weak cockpit make this a prime target for a sniper. The armor is not using durasteel or plastisteel but a ferro-fibrous core with cast iron poured over it. This is vert tough but brittle and heavy. Consequently the fighter is unsuitable for any mission lasting over 30 minutes as it will run out of fuel. It is often used as an escort or for point defence.

COM-3 Archangel

archangel.png
Guns: 2 Laser Cannons, 2 x Dual turreted Mass Drivers
Missiles: 10 proton torpedos, 4 torpedos
The archangel bomber is used by the church of man. It features a recovered space frame from the original broadsword designs. The retro engineers mounted a minimal pair of lasers, and the best meson shield generator they could make, they also attached commercial off the shelf torpedo launchers to the tacked on wings as well as four anti-capship torpedos. Its true strength lies in its mass driver turrets. It features two of them, one front facing and one rear facing one. This means a head-on attack from this ship is equivalent to that or a gratha. It features the same Ferro-Fibrous armor as the Crucifix, lowering the cost, but doped it with enough molybdenum to lighten it enough to allow it to perform long range strikes. It is not equipped with a jump drive and it could not stand the strain of jumping due to its geometry and brittleness, so if one is attacked by this bomber, it is a safe bet that the church of man presence is significant in the system.
